Roger Benitez, a federal judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, ruled Friday that parts of the state’s 32-year ban on assault weapons are unconstitutional.

Savio enacted this civil disobedience — one of the defining moments of the campus Free Speech Movement — to protest the arrest of then-campus graduate student Jack Weinberg, who had been cited for tabling for social justice group Congress of Racial Equality, which was against the UC’s policies at the time.

A now-defunct twitter account run by a Russian propaganda organization spread divisive tweets about UC Berkeley to its more than 100,000 followers last spring, during the time when Ann Coulter and other conservative speakers were scheduled to appear on campus.
