UC Berkeley’s Recreational Sports Facility opened a gender-inclusive universal locker room Wednesday morning at 6 a.m., featuring 16 private changing rooms and seven private showers.

Currently an ASUC senator, Wilfert has used his flexibility and “open mind” to successfully represent students on campus, according to Senator Hung Huynh.

Former ASUC President Will Morrow, who was named as a fellow for the National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement, also known as the Free Speech Center, is writing a “playbook” with information and tactics that future student leaders can use when dealing with controversial events and speakers on their college campuses.

In recent years, the campus has garnered attention for several high-profile sexual harassment cases — including alleged violations of UC sexual misconduct policy by former campus astronomy professor Geoffrey Marcy and former UC Berkeley School of Law dean Sujit Choudhry.

Maz Jobrani was so excited to be invited to give a speech at the campus’s spring 2017 commencement ceremony that he accepted the offer right away — but as the date approached, he “began to lose sleep.”

Wednesday is the final regular ASUC senate meeting, drawing a close to the 2016-17 executive slate’s term.

During its regular meeting Wednesday — the second-to-last for the 2016-17 senate class — the ASUC Senate passed 23 resolutions into committees.

The 2017 ASUC elections saw a 16 percent decrease in voters compared to 2016 — the lowest turnout in at least the past five years.

The recent vandalism on campus signs and poles, which feature threats against the Berkeley College Republicans, adds to a growing list of harassment against the campus organization.

Luu is no longer pursuing life in a Buddhist monastery, but his unique upbringing has heavily influenced many of his values — he’s a lifelong vegetarian, was taught to dream big and learned to love and respect everyone regardless of their background, which is why he is running for ASUC president.
