For the first time in four years, the Bears will return to Ute territory, competing in their second dual meet of the season and their first meet out of state.

Every football team has heart, but there’s more fuel to the fire with this year’s Oregon State squad because it’s vying for first in the Pac-12. The Beavers have something to prove to the conference and to the rest of the nation.

The 2020 squad was nearly in the same exact position as this year’s team finds itself in, but proceeded to lose its final four games; Cal’s stalwart defense will try to make sure that history does not repeat itself during its trip to Southern California.

This weekend, Cal men’s swim and dive tackled a dual meet against Utah and at the Pacific Invite, pulling away with wins in both.

After pulling away with a resounding win in its first meet of the season against Virginia, Cal men’s swim and dive look to find home away from home in its two upcoming tournaments this week. Half of the team will travel to Salt Lake City to face Utah at the Ute Natatorium on Friday, Oct. 22, while the other half will make the trip to Stockton to compete in the Pacific Invite on Saturday, Oct. 23.

After dominating the past two swim meets, the Bears finally found a team that matches their competitive edge. This past weekend, No. 6 Cal raced against No 1. Virginia in a meet indicative of the competition to come later this season.

Seasonal depression seems to be settling in early this year for Cal volleyball as it racks up its eighth straight loss in Pac-12 conference play.

Coming off a sweep to the hands of Oregon State — the only other winless conference team entering the contest — the Bears have easily hit the lowest point of the season. At 0-6 in conference play, Cal sits in the Pac-12 basement midway through its season.

If there’s any time for the Bear offense to wake up and its defense to continue stellar play, it is against a Utah team limping into Friday’s matchup.
