On Friday, the city of Berkeley's Budget and Finance Policy Committee met to discuss recommendations to give to City Council regarding the budget, including allocation of funding from Measure P and Berkeley police presence on UC Berkeley's campus.

UCPD officers arrested an unaffiliated male on suspicion of “disorderly conduct” in a public restroom Friday evening, according to UCPD Sgt. Brian Sato.

Because of financial constraints, the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland closed in June, causing its inmates to be transferred nearly 30 miles to the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, according to Alameda County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Ray Kelley.

UCPD is considering restriping a parking lot near Upper Hearst in an effort to move some of its patrol cars from the current parking area on Barrow Lane.

In response to an ongoing series of laptop thefts, the Berkeley Police Department announced Monday the return of its undercover operation for laptop thieves.

Police apprehended McInnis on the 1900 block of University Avenue, and McInnis was taken to Berkeley Jail, where he was booked on several charges of sexual assault and a parole violation, according to a Nixle alert.

The Berkeley College Republicans, in collaboration with Young America’s Foundation, has invited conservative author and columnist Ben Shapiro to speak on campus September 14.

Two alleged strong-arm robberies and an alleged assault with a deadly weapon at People’s Park and Grinnell Path were reported by UCPD on Wednesday.
