UC Undergraduate Experience Survey

The goal of the campuswide plan is to ensure every undergraduate has the opportunity to pursue creative, independent “discovery projects."

For Pride Month, we looked at how the size and experiences of the LGBTQ+ undergraduate student community at UC Berkeley have changed over time. Using data from the UC Undergraduate Experience Survey we visualized the breakdown of students by sexual orientation, gender identity and how respected they felt on campus based on their sexual orientation.

With about a quarter of UC Berkeley students seeking basic needs assistance, campus and student organizations have worked to address student food insecurity, among other concerns.

Despite budget cuts faced by UC Berkeley, the African American Initiative, or AAI, hopes to continue its efforts to increase Black recruitment and retention rates, bolster support systems and cultivate a better campus climate.

The UC Board of Regents met with the Investments Subcommittee and newly created Basic Needs Committee on Tuesday, the first of its regular three-day meeting, at UCSF Mission Bay.

The initiative is a “a comprehensive effort to address the underrepresentation of African American students, faculty, and staff,” according to the UC Berkeley Division of Equity & Inclusion’s website.

This semester, the UC Berkeley Food Assistance Program is targeting its support toward student populations it has determined to have the least access to financial resources.
