Despite a valiant comeback effort in singles, the Bears fell to their longtime rivals 4-3.

While Cal went into the weekend with a four-game losing streak, it turned its around momentum with a resounding 4-0 victory over UCLA and a thrilling 4-3 comeback against USC.

With four consecutive losses — most recently a loss on the road against Utah — and a 1-2 conference record, the Bears will be looking to win both matches if they want to turn their momentum around and have a winning record in the Pac-12.

Despite an intense game against USC, the Pac-12’s first-place team, and a respectable performance against Arizona State, Cal ended the weekend winless.

Cal men’s tennis is in a losing slump, with its 4-2 loss against then-No. 40 Utah on the road marking its fourth consecutive loss.

Coach Jennifer Wong leads the Bears to the best record through nine games (3-6) since 2019 after Oregon win and Colorado loss. Cal accomplished this feat in a stunning 13-12 win against Oregon on Friday, but went on to lose 3-20 to Colorado on Sunday.

The latest hope in question took the form of Cal’s opening touchdown against USC, in a game that ultimately ended in a 35-41 blue and gold loss.

Cal had recently shown underwhelming performances, but the true fighting spirit on the gridiron this evening has redeemed some of that disappointment for fans. Final score: 35-41, Cal.

The Bears improved their defensive efforts, defeating both UC Davis and USC with four-point leads.

The Bears suffered their first defeat of the season to Stanford but rebounded to stave off USC to earn a third place finish.
