As part of its commitment to public accountability, the UC system released its annual report on systemwide employee compensation for the 2020 calendar year.

The UC Board of Regents met for a second day at UCSF on Wednesday to discuss financial aid, workers’ pension funds and federal advocacy.

They voted to form an AFT council specific to the University of California, creating the University Council-AFT, which currently represents more than 3,300 librarians and non-Academic Senate faculty members such as lecturers, has staff on all 10 UC campuses and continues to enter into regular negotiations with the UC Office of the President, or UCOP, over salaries, job security, job roles and more.

Faculty from UC campuses across the state pushed for greater job stability in negotiations between the University Council-American Federation of Teachers, or UC-AFT, and the UC Office of the President, or UCOP, at UC Berkeley on Wednesday.

The Undergraduate Student Workers Union held a speak-out Wednesday to educate the public about the concerns of the group of primarily Cal Dining employees, including food insecurity, wage theft and harassment.

Fourteen union members gathered in front of Haas Pavilion on Thursday night with flyers and posters to spread awareness about December layoffs in UC Berkeley’s Campus Shared Services.

On Tuesday, marking International Workers’ Memorial Day, 20 students, campus employees and UC workers’ union members held a vigil outside California Hall to commemorate two UC employees who died in workplace accidents over the last six years.
