Since the strike ended, UAW 2865 and SRU-UAW members and leaders have disputed union election practices, strike strategy and the impact of their new labor contracts on their thousands of representees.

Striking academic workers from UC Berkeley, UCSF and UC Davis marched on the UC Office of the President, or UCOP, in Oakland Monday. 

Nearly all of the 1,500 graduate students, postdocs and student researchers present at Memorial Glade raised their hands with a resounding “aye!” during the UAW members meeting Thursday, unanimously calling for a statewide strike authorization vote.

Graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and academic researchers have won protections against bullying and abusive workplace conduct in a tentative agreement with the UC system.
