The ASUC Disabled Students Ad Hoc Committee, or DSC, was established as an ASUC commission Oct. 14, granting it a larger platform to advocate for UC Berkeley students with disabilities.

We don’t take no for an answer. Our group comes from an incredible line of folks who have paved the way to get us what we have now, and we plan to spend this year “passing the torch” to disability advocates to come. 

UC Berkeley student advocates Katie Savin and Alena Morales recently reflected on their work and progress toward making campus accessible and welcoming for students with disabilities.

Defunding essential resources often makes it feel as though our value is dependent on the contributions we can make (such as academically) without raising the bottom line.

In May, the UC Berkeley Recreational Sports Facility declared its intention to shut down the No Limits, or NL, personal training program for disabled students because of a lack of funding.

The ASUC Senate held a special meeting Friday to pass several bills surrounding new appointments for various positions as well as several measures to increase disability equity on campus and reinforce support for undocumented students.

UC Berkeley student organizers, faculty and allies gathered in Eshleman Hall on Friday for the inaugural Disability Community Town Hall to share stories and brainstorm ideas for an upcoming disabled students' community center.
