I’m not entirely sure if my evolved clothing choices have impacted how others view me, but I do certainly know it’s changed how I view myself.

I am instantly reminded of what unites my Latine family, and I become hungry at the thought of food. Beyond its tastiness and incredible seasoning — which I will soon obsess over — Latine food symbolizes cultural harmony and solidarity. 

Our very lives are a commodity on social media; the content we post is the main unit of consumption. Social media companies profit off of our lives. When you reduce humans into units of consumption, you objectify humanity.

Love — or the lack thereof — is at the center of everything. It takes a conscious decision to deconstruct the world around us to galvanize change.

Whether it be pride, or shyness or forgetfulness — or maybe just feeling like there’s no need — giving out compliments can feel harder than it needs to be.

Don’t get me wrong, the desire to become better isn’t a bad thing, but the way in which sports and brands market to youth can be quite unpleasant.

So much of our lives are already dictated by school, work, family, friends and societal standards. Creating space for yourself to be creative is essential.

Characterization trumps plot, with "We the Animals" unfolding much like everyday life does: slowly. The pain and tension, however, are no less dramatic.
