The Bay Area holds a special place for its own. While rappers such as E-40 and Mac Dre spent years developing the Bay’s trademark sound, SOB X RBE has been able to bring melody to it, which is the key to today’s modern hip-hop setting. 

As SOB x RBE’s young fans pushed to the front of the crowd, it was clear that they had come for the group itself, not to see how it would fit into any Bay Area rap legacy that had come before it.

The latest entry to the increasingly crowded Bay Area music festival scene, Blurry Vision Fest made a splash in its debut this weekend at the Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland.

Outside Lands is feverishly exalted. So, here it is — one jaded concert critic’s take on the lineup for San Francisco’s 11th Outside Lands.

“SOB X RBE, that’s the gang, bitch!” The group’s iconic catchphrase was repeated time and time again at its Fox Theater show Saturday.

Luckily, the “Black Panther” soundtrack makes “All The Stars” look like a chart-friendly bone tossed to the Marvel bigwigs.
