After many hours of deliberation and several days of meetings, the ASUC Judicial Council decided unanimously to rehear Student Action’s case regarding the party's financial misfilings after the council’s earlier decision — which disqualified the entire party — was appealed.

About 200 students attended Wednesday night’s regular ASUC meeting to both voice their support for and condemnation of the Judicial Council’s recent controversial ruling that resulted in the retroactive disqualification of all Student Action candidates in the 2019 ASUC elections.

Though this year’s ASUC elections were arguably one of the most controversial in years, the majority of UC Berkeley students did not choose to cast their votes.

As voting for the 2019 ASUC elections begins, many students remain uninformed about specific ASUC candidates and their platforms, according to voters and ASUC campaigners.

The rapidly-approaching end to the 2019 ASUC elections will bring with it an end to campaigning and the challenges that accompany it, including balancing work and navigating the bureaucracy of the ASUC.

The ASUC Elections Council met Friday for its annual Point of No Return meeting, during which it determined ballot specificities for the 2019 ASUC elections.

With the ASUC elections season approaching, the Elections Council introduced its 2019 Voluntary Wellness Honor Pact with the aim to ease the stress that has historically accompanied the campaign season.

After the 2018 ASUC elections, in which Student Action won the majority in both the senate and partisan executive races, candidates and ASUC stakeholders reflected on what may have contributed to the party’s victory.

ASUC campaigns collectively cost $6,361 in the 2018 elections, almost $2,600 less than the $9,000 spent during the 2016 elections.

Two candidates have been eliminated from this year’s ASUC election. But because of an ASUC bylaw, voters can still select them on their ballots.
