The ASUC Senate voted to indefinitely table SR 22/23-027, which would institutionalize the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's definition of antisemitism, at their meeting on Wednesday.

The ASUC Senate approved a bill to condemn antisemitism, with nine of 20 of the senators absent in protest of it Wednesday.

Jewish students at UC Berkeley continue to feel targeted and look to student government for support in light of rising antisemitic rhetoric on a national level. 

ASUC was met with urges from the public to denounce anti-semitism during their weekly meeting Wednesday night. 

After more than two months of student and community action, the controversy over the bylaw adopted by Berkeley Law Students for Justice in Palestine, or LSJP, and nine other law student organizations has escalated.

The ASUC held its second Senate meeting of the year Aug. 31 to outline their priorities for the year and its progress thus far.

The results were announced Friday during the first in-person tabulations ceremony since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
