This year’s Emmys ceremony reflected not only what some consider an exclusionary Emmys, but also suggested the obsoleteness of the voting process by which the winners are selected.

Though the Golden Globes don’t necessarily presage the rest of the awards season, “Nomadland” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7” emerge as the films to beat heading into future ceremonies.

Here are our predictions for which nominees will go home (or, in this case, stay home) with a golden statue.

Unlike most award show nominations, the GLAAD award nominees provide a unique introspection into the media that queer people can most easily see themselves reflected in.

With Taylor-Joy’s gazing eyes and sharp wits pounding through the screen, the audience is transported to the front row of her countless intense chess matches. If you ever thought chess was boring, “The Queen’s Gambit” will surely convince you otherwise.

Though every comedy series other than “Schitt’s Creek” went home empty-handed, the night was an overall improvement over recent ceremonies that tended to award endurance over quality.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will likely be handing out awards to some long-deserving titles formerly overlooked in the era of “Game of Thrones” and “Veep.”
