From unrealistic circumstances to a hasty ending, the film fails to distinguish itself from other derivative action movies.

Although entertaining enough to watch until the end and funny enough to evoke a few laughs, the movie’s confusing logic, inability to steer clear from cliches and feeble attempts at establishing depth all exacerbate its various shortcomings.

“The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” is forgettable, its plot disappearing over a very short horizon. 

Two years later, “Deadpool 2” doesn’t clear the bar set by its predecessor — it runs right smack into it, colliding with an inglorious thud.

Hollywood audiences’ sudden aversion to rich-people rom-coms is fascinating, especially because these films captivated audiences for decades.

Darius is still charming, with his sunshiney laugh and ability to survive the impossible. Meanwhile, Michael is just annoying.

It’s a perfectly serviceable and enjoyable suspense flick. The problem is that we can’t watch it in a vacuum, and the specter of “Alien” haunts the film.
