Proposition 23

The California Dialysis Clinic Requirements Initiative will be listed as a ballot item in California’s midterm elections this November, supported by the workers’ union SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West.

Out of the 12 propositions on the ballot, three have been approved by voters and five have failed while the rest remain uncertain, as of press time.

According to data gathered by California Target Book, which gives nonpartisan information on the state’s politics, voters have seen an increase of more than $150 million in spending on advertisements for ballot measures this year compared to 2016.

The controversial Proposition 23, which will be on the November ballot, aims to protect dialysis patients by increasing regulations on dialysis clinics, although those who oppose it say the proposition would cause clinics to close due to higher costs.
