Several large pieces of construction equipment were removed from People’s Park near UC Berkeley on Monday morning.

UCPD officers were notified of a possible deceased person inside a tent at People's Park on Tuesday at 12:08pm, according to UCPD Sergeant Jacob Westlie. Upon arrival, officers found the body of an unidentified man inside of a tent at the park and confirmed he was dead. 

UCPD responded to reports of an aggravated assault at the People's Park Housing Construction site at approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night, according to a UCPD WarnMe alert.

People’s Park activist and UC Berkeley alumnus Nick Alexander was arrested Aug. 18 on suspicion of vandalism, assault and battery on a peace officer, but was released one day later from the Santa Rita County Jail, as first reported by Berkeleyside.
