I’m an only child with two lesbian mothers, but I attended a boys’ school for most of my life. From as early as I can remember, school was a male space and the home was a female space.

Both of my parents are doctors, so several aspects of my life have been affected by being surrounded by people who practice medicine.

If I was in class, where could my son possibly be if not with his mother?

My parents have always instructed me not to talk to strangers, and, as a kid, I took this command with utmost seriousness. In fact, I would say I took this instruction to an extreme degree. I'd shut my mouth, lock it and throw away the key.
