Pac 12 championships

For the second year in a row, Cal men’s rowing became the Pac-12 champion while women’s rowing placed third overall.

The loss was an upset on the part of USC, as the Bears were seeded higher going into the tournament and were last year’s regular season champions.

Cal, last year’s regular season conference champion, will face the winner of Wednesday’s matchup of the No. 7-seeded Oregon Ducks and No. 10-seeded Colorado Buffs on Thursday to kick off the postseason.

Borrelli was able to shoot under par and closed round two with a total of three under par, an outstanding performance which put her in tied fourth overall.  

Having struggled in two consecutive tournaments, the Pac-12 championships are a great opportunity for the Bears to end the season on a high.

At the Pac-12 championships held May 13-15 in Eugene, Oregon, Cal track and field qualified 32 athletes for regionals — the highest number in program history.

Men’s crew won Cal’s 16th Pac-12 title this Sunday, while women’s crew came in third behind Stanford and Washington.

This season the Bears have already shown that they can rise to the challenge of strong in-conference competition.

The Bears’ 2022 women’s gymnastics season came to an end April 2, but this was merely one loss in the face of what was arguably Cal’s best season in program history.

With a squad of 16 swimmers, Cal maintained a balance between veterans and newcomers who had yet to experience the NCAA tournament.
