Berkeley High School’s mountain bike team was robbed at gunpoint last Saturday. 

The Berkeley Marina area is set for reconstruction. This comes months after the approval of the Berkeley Marina Roadway Improvements Project, part of the city’s annual efforts to restore its deteriorating streets.

Following the deaths of two unhoused men Sunday at Civic Center Park, the Berkeley Police Department announced a plan Tuesday to increase police presence in the park. 

About 5:27 p.m. Feb. 12, Berkeley Police Department officers responded to a call on the 2500 block of Shattuck Avenue involving a fight between two men, according to an email from BPD spokesperson Officer Byron White.

At 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 6, an unknown driver collided with a light pole on the 2600 block of San Pablo Avenue, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

On Feb. 1 at 6:21 p.m., three robbers entered the 1823 Fourth St. Apple Store and took multiple devices from display areas, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

Oakland resident Bryan Keith Richardson, 59, was arrested by the Berkeley Police Department as the suspect responsible for three Berkeley bank robberies, according to an email from BPD spokesperson Officer Byron White.

The suspect from the Jan. 20 fatal collision on University Avenue and Sixth Street was charged Friday with five felony counts in the Alameda County Superior Court, according to court documents.

A second Wells Fargo Bank was robbed within a week Monday afternoon, according to Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

UC Berkeley executive director of financial planning and analysis Jon Bain-Chekal, 49, was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of possessing child pornography.
