The Bears open the season with a dominant 58-21 win over the Mean Green thanks to the combined efforts of the Cal running backs.

This move will bring the ACC’s membership to 18 schools and will entirely rewrite each program’s expectations in scheduling, as well as media revenue in years to come.

Cal football held its second fall scrimmage Saturday, closing out one of its final practices open to the public. For players looking to demonstrate why they deserve a higher spot on the depth chart entering the season opener, the scrimmage proved critical for players across multiple skill positions.

The scrimmage, which had over 100 plays in a little over an hour of practice, revealed much about the Bears just three weeks before their opener against North Texas.

After the conference presidents met on Wednesday, the two Bay Area schools were missing two votes, though no formal vote was taken. In order to be accepted, 12 of the 15 member schools must vote yes.

Joining a Cal team in desperate need of quarterback depth, Finley will find himself alongside newly-acquired dual threat Sam Jackson V and fellow redshirt freshman Fernando Mendoza.

Following a weekend of rainouts, Cal returned to the court in Miami, facing off against highly ranked Miami and NC State. Despite valiant efforts, both matches ended in losses for the Bears, dropping their record to 2-3.

Cal women’s tennis will face off against no. 16 Miami and no. 10 NC State from Feb 11-12. Hoping to redeem themselves after their loss against USD in late January, Cal seeks singles and doubles success this weekend.

The stakes are high: Should they reach the round of 16, they would be selected for the All-American team, and a tournament win earns a wildcard into this year’s U.S. Open Championship.
