UC Berkeley is experiencing an unprecedented surge of interest in food. Our campus is a complex and dynamic food system, responsible for meeting the needs of more than 41,000 students, 1,500 faculty, 8,800 staff members and 750 lecturers. And yet, as passion for food and justice grows across campus, many still encounter major obstacles to diverse, equitable and inclusive participation in the campus food system.

At their last official regular senate meeting Wednesday night, the ASUC Senate passed the budget for the 2015-16 academic year, along with three bills pertaining to the Greek Opportunity Fund, ASUC election bylaws and a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, between UC Berkeley and the ASUC regarding the Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project.

The Panhellenic Council’s 13 member sororities saw one of their largest recruitments at UC Berkeley this fall, with the 835 women expressing interest in joining a house — an increase of 160 over last year.
