Indigenous organizers and allies gathered Wednesday on the site of the Ohlone Shellmound in West Berkeley for a Water is Life Prayer Walk in solidarity with the Treaty People Walk for Water, which took place at the same time in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Reporting from the city at the heart of many Black Lives Matter protests, UC Berkeley alumnus Andy Mannix spent days investigating and uncovering crucial information about the systemic issues in Minneapolis policing.

Following the Berkeley City Council’s decision Wednesday, police officers will be removed from traffic enforcement in Berkeley and the Berkeley Police Department’s budget will be cut by 12%.
