Berkeley City Council met on Thursday, discussing over 45 items, including resources for seniors, a public art commission and tenants rights. 

The Berkeley City Council unanimously approved proposed zoning at the Ashby and North Berkeley BART stations during a special meeting Thursday that extended into Friday, setting the building height limit at both stations to seven stories.

Mable Howard, as described by her daughter Mildred Howard, was a leading community organiser who successfully launched a lawsuit against BART in 1968. An above-ground train would have disrupted many small local businesses — “banks, hardware stores, a shoe store, an appliance store” — and divided white communities and communities of color across the tracks.

He was a expert in several areas, including probability and game theory, and made significant discoveries in each of them. For example, he developed the Rao-Blackwell theorem, a foundational idea in modern statistics.
