The wait is almost over — the fourth and fifth floors of Moffitt Library will reopen to students in early November providing a 24-hour public space for students.

As the campus sees its second day of ASUC elections polling, the students currently in ASUC executive seats are taking a look back at their tenures.

Three candidates, each with the intention of making sure that student voices are heard in campus affairs, will be running with their own distinct platforms for the position of ASUC academic affairs vice president.

The Office of the Academic Affairs Vice President and You Mean More, a campus club focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention, hosted UC Berkeley’s first annual mental health conference, “Stronger than Stigma,” on Saturday.

The UC Student Association released a study Feb. 18 ranking the mental health services provided at UC campuses. The study awarded UC Berkeley a C-.

Students will now be able to snooze between classes, as the ASUC Office of Academic Affairs vice president has just opened several designated napping areas across campus.

UC Berkeley researchers have conducted a study that suggests teens and adults who go to bed late at night tend to gain weight more easily even when they sleep more hours.

While the ASUC, UC Berkeley’s student government, appears on the average student’s radar for a few months every year, the organization — which prides itself in being “one of the largest and most autonomous student governments in the nation” — is actually charged with multiple responsibilities that affect student life.

At their last official regular senate meeting Wednesday night, the ASUC Senate passed the budget for the 2015-16 academic year, along with three bills pertaining to the Greek Opportunity Fund, ASUC election bylaws and a memorandum of understanding, or MOU, between UC Berkeley and the ASUC regarding the Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project.

At its penultimate meeting of the semester Wednesday, the ASUC Senate was updated on the progress made in negotiations to install relaxation centers on campus.
