A unanimous decision from the ASUC Judicial Council early Tuesday morning disqualified all Student Action candidates from the 2019 elections cycle, after the party preliminarily won a majority of the ASUC Senate and partisan executive seats for the next academic year at Friday’s tabulations ceremony.

UC Berkeley juniors Aastha Jha, representing Student Action, and Regan Putnam, representing CalSERVE, are going head-to-head for the position of academic affairs vice president, or AAVP, in the 2019 ASUC elections, each with platforms that address diversity and representation, wellness and accessibility to resources.

Current ASUC senators Amma Sarkodee-Adoo and Andy Theocharous are running for president and executive vice president, or EVP, respectively. Aastha Jha, chief of staff to current academic affairs vice president, or AAVP, Melany Amarikwa, is running for her office’s top position.

ASUC senators considered a proposal to establish a designated transfer student representative within the ASUC at Wednesday night’s regular meeting.

Chancellor Carol Christ released a statement on Monday titled “Plans to Advance Faculty Diversity,” to share information about future plans and present efforts to increase the diversity of UC Berkeley’s faculty.

The UC Berkeley Library selected the design firm BNIM to help design the remodel of the first through third floors of Moffitt Library, according to an Oct. 26 press release.

Members of the UC Berkeley Division of the Academic Senate discussed new frameworks to promote accessibility of campus resources, the role of standardized testing in admissions processes and students’ mental health at its meeting Monday.

Every year, ASUC officials are required to annually update their Advocacy Agenda, which provides the student body with the ASUC's advocacy goals for the current year.

The meeting’s new senate resolution would be in favor of professors putting mental health resources on their syllabi, similar to how the UC Berkeley Code of Conduct excerpt on plagiarism is placed on each class’s syllabus, if passed.

The agenda listed three resolutions for consideration, one of which authorized the purchase of Berkeleytime.
