Five newly appointed justices joined the four remaining justices at the ASUC Judicial Council meeting Monday to reorganize after last month’s resignations and rule on the appeal request from Student Action after the party's disqualification.

Student Action senators planned to impeach three members of the Judicial Council on Wednesday night, one day after a ruling that disqualified the entire Student Action slate from the 2019 elections cycle.

About 200 students attended Wednesday night’s regular ASUC meeting to both voice their support for and condemnation of the Judicial Council’s recent controversial ruling that resulted in the retroactive disqualification of all Student Action candidates in the 2019 ASUC elections.

According to the petition, Cui’s office did not give sufficient notice of officials having late reports; Cui pleaded guilty at the hearing.

Seven of the independent candidates for the ASUC were brought before the ASUC Judicial Council for elections-related violations. All the recent candidates pleaded guilty to charges at their hearings, which were held Thursday and Friday.

Less than two weeks after its secession from the ASUC, the Graduate Assembly is already starting to experience complications as a result of its newfound independence.

During the first post-election ASUC meeting, Judicial Council Chair Maureen Ochi Sides discussed the 10 upcoming hearings related to elections violations.
