The Latinx Caucus met with UC Berkeley administration and Chancellor Carol Christ in a sit-down meeting on Monday to discuss its concerns and demands regarding the welfare and success of the Latine community at Berkeley. 

Seismic concerns have come to the front of many campus community members' minds in recent months, leaving them worried about the potential effects of an earthquake after six campus buildings were found to have a severe implied risk to life.

The ASUC Senate met for its weekly meeting Wednesday night and approved several resolutions and funding for clubs, in addition to hearing from community members looking to make Eshleman Hall a sanctuary for immigrants.

Campus community members gathered in the Sibley Auditorium on Monday to discuss signature initiatives surrounding sustainability, equality and artificial intelligence at a town hall sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.

The press conference's main topics, which were sent in a campuswide email, included progress on Chancellor Carol Christ's financial and housing goals.

Alvarez-Cohen has been a professor in the department of civil and environmental engineering for about 27 years and will take her new position July 1, according to a campuswide email from Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Paul Alivisatos. She said her goal is to meet the different needs of her job by finding a suitable approach to each.

UC Berkeley is on the verge of establishing a major in data science through the College of Letters and Science, pending approval by the Academic Senate.

ASUC External Affairs Vice President Rigel Robinson criticized UC Berkeley for a lack of "holistic" student representation on the campus's strategic planning process at an ASUC Senate regular Wednesday meeting.

UCPD is investigating a report of anti-semitic writings at Kroeber Hall on Tuesday, according to UCPD spokesperson Sabrina Reich.
