English and music double major and sophomore Mia Shelton is running for ASUC Academic Affairs Vice President, or AAVP, on platforms of holistic wellbeing, intellectual curiosity, inner ASUC collaboration and student-accessible committees.

Campus junior and transfer student Alphaeus Bey is running independently for ASUC president. Bey hopes to address safety, diversity, ASUC transparency and UC Berkeley’s campus climate.

I am instantly reminded of what unites my Latine family, and I become hungry at the thought of food. Beyond its tastiness and incredible seasoning — which I will soon obsess over — Latine food symbolizes cultural harmony and solidarity. 

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, here is a list of designers who have taken the industry by storm.

UC Berkeley has seen an increase in Latine student enrollment and representation in several academic disciplines following the establishment of initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion.

Finding community on campus is ‘crucial’ for the thousands of Latine and Chicanx students at UC Berkeley. While the school touts its diverse student body on flyers and campaigns, Emiliano Silva felt alone as a Mexican transfer student before joining the mariachi group.

And that’s where the risk comes in — not in pursuing only those communities that make us feel at home, but rather bringing the community within you to the communities beyond you.

This language belongs to every person of color, regardless of anyone’s racism or bigotry. We belong in the English language, the English curriculum and the literary world.

We have seen that the injustice system has been particularly brutal since COVID-19, and I internalized what I was seeing in one threatening message: This is not for you.
