George Kliavkoff, the president of entertainment and sports for MGM Resorts International, is slated to replace Larry Scott as the Pac-12 commissioner.

Just nine days after deciding on football's Nov. 7 return, the Pac-12 announced the upcoming seven-game conference slate Saturday morning.

In light of pressure from players, a COVID-19 testing partnership with Quidel and a desire to return in time to compete in the College Football Playoff, the Pac-12 will play a seven-game season beginning Nov. 6.

The Pac-12 CEO Group, in conjunction with school officials and coaches, will meet to discuss the return of football before the end of the calendar year. This comes after the Big Ten, the only other Power Five conference not currently playing, decided to return.

After USC football players requested an easing of government restrictions in order to play, California Gov. Gavin Newsom insisted that there are no state restrictions on college football’s return.

The Pac-12 was the second Power Five conference to make the decision after the Big Ten announced its postponement of fall sports just a few hours prior.

The Pac-12 has been thrust into scrutiny among allegations of a deal with the LA Times, as Cal fans scratch their heads over the school’s involvement.

Nonconference matchups against UNLV, TCU and Cal Poly have all been canceled, so Cal will kick off its season Sept. 26 at Oregon State.

The Pac-12 is the second Power Five conference to announce conference-only games, after the Big Ten announced similar changes to its fall sports schedules Thursday.
