City leaders commemorated the 31st anniversary of the 1991 Oakland/Berkeley Firestorm at a press conference on Oct. 25, urging constituents to pass Measure L, which would relocate utilities underground along evacuation routes.

Measure M, which could tax Berkeley property owners with units that have been vacant for more than 182 days, will be on the ballot in November. 

Berkeley City Council unanimously voted to appoint Hansel Aguilar as the new director of the Police Accountability Board, or PAB, during a special meeting Tuesday. They also approved a resolution to Measure L, an affordable housing and infrastructure bond that would allocate $650 million to improvements.
