Today, you felt like home.  / Usually you feel like childhood / Bittersweet / Like the mistakes of youth  / Like the times that make you cringe / But then immediately laugh / Because no matter how mortifying, / You’re still glad to have  / That story to tell 

No matter how deeply asleep I was, the jostle of our car from a pothole at the end of the street would wake me up. It signaled that we were only mere seconds from being home

I wanted to remember what my childhood was like, but I was terrified that every trace of it would be gone — scraped away, painted over and torn down.

Each small risk at a time, though, I’ve learned that finding “home” is all about improvising and redefining my idea of it. 

It feels good to want to build a home. It feels like a grown-up thing to want, and grown-up-ness is becoming vital for my own personal development.

I couldn’t go home because this is my home now and until I graduate. The comfort of Berkeley is more than enough to make me want to stay.

I know some people count down the days until they go home for break, but I’m sure other students can relate when I say I don't look forward to it.

It’s crazy to believe that we are in the midst of midterm season, swarming in the constant rush of wrapping up our academic year and planning for the summer.

Our traditions would be the same no matter where we lived, how old I was or if I had my own bed.I look forward to furthering traditions on my visits home.
