Disability rights activist Judy Heumann died March 4 at the age of 75. 

I realized what defined my undergrad experience was the support and encouragement at Berkeley that gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities. 

Campus senior Hari Srinivasan, who currently writes for The Daily Californian, has been awarded the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans – a highly prestigious $90,000 scholarship for children of immigrants to pursue a graduate education. 

We are developmentally all over the place in almost every aspect of our lives. So where do we fit in on this giant spectrum?

By linking the neuroscience of autism with observations of my functioning, I am better able to understand my everyday challenges.

Engaging in these behaviors brings about a mixture of emotions. On one level, they are strangely comforting. At the same time, these behaviors are highly annoying, irritating and exhausting.

The lesson I took away from Hawking was that a life of meaning is one where you are productive and contribute to society in whatever small way you can.

There is really no other way of handling transitions than systematic desensitization — repeatedly walking through the doorway and thinking through the steps before going in to reduce that unknown factor.

All these women chose to believe in the possibility of individuals like me. All these women helped me build confidence and contribute to making the individual I am today.

The skin is the largest sensory organ in the body, so there is sensory input coming in literally from head to toe. It is both agony and ecstasy.
