Police Accountability Board, or PAB, member Cheryl Owens stepped down one day after Jen Louis’ appointment as the chief of Berkeley Police Department passed in a city council vote May 9.

Berkeley City Auditor Jenny Wong was awarded her third Knighton Award for Exemplary Audit. This year’s award was for her report titled “Berkeley Police: Improvements Needed to Manage Overtime and Security Work for Outside Entities.”

Berkeley City Council unanimously voted to appoint Hansel Aguilar as the new director of the Police Accountability Board, or PAB, during a special meeting Tuesday. They also approved a resolution to Measure L, an affordable housing and infrastructure bond that would allocate $650 million to improvements.
