Last Friday, ASUC election tabulations revealed that the GA Fee had failed, a reality that the GA is all too familiar with.

The ASUC Senate received an update on UC Berkeley's financial situation and continued to table a bill on community engagement at its meeting Wednesday.

The ASUC Senate is set to vote on whether to reestablish a housing commission that previously advocated for affordable student housing. The commission would aim to bring more transparency between campus administration and the student body regarding housing projects.

On Jan. 3, the ASUC Senate Inter-Semester Committee held a brief virtual meeting mainly composed of a closed session in which the contract between the Wall Street Journal and the ASUC was discussed. 

After a lengthy debate, ASUC senators motioned to postpone a vote about the Transfer Referendum because of legal concerns at Wednesday night’s regular meeting.

“We’re really intent on making sure we’re going to be able to achieve the things we talked about, the things we promised to students,” President Alexander Wilfert said.

Senators debated the legitimacy of a resolution that was introduced and passed in the same meeting — a process that is illegal.

The ASUC Senate passed nine resolutions at their weekly Wednesday meeting, including the Promoting Empowerment of Personnel Leadership & Excellence, or P.E.O.P.L.E., Act, and four referendums for the April election ballot.

During this week’s regular Wednesday ASUC Senate meeting, senators moved a new business resolution — that calls for the resignation of UC Regent Norman Pattiz — to committee for discussion, and heard from the new Chief Legal Officer, Prathyush Parasuraman.
