The University of California will partner with the National Education Equity Lab, or NEEL, to provide college classes for low-income high school students.

Though the odds of filling out a perfect bracket are one in 9.2 quintillion, here are the Daily Californian sports staff’s picks on who from the Pac-12 might pull off unexpected upsets.

Head coach Mike Krzyzewski once again boasts one of the nation’s best incoming classes, featuring a trio of five-star players in Vernon Carey Jr., Matthew Hurt and Wendell Moore, as well as four-star Cassius Stanley. The Blue Devils also bring back several rotation players in Tre Jones, Alex O’Connell and Jack White, among others.

Not every game that the Bears play during their nonconference slate will take place in such grand arenas, but there are still numerous intriguing matchups.

Ultimately, the consequences fall on the universities themselves for allowing these practices in the first place. The implicated athletic departments shot themselves in the foot through their lack of accountability and inability to comply with their own standards.

Along with Duke, Georgetown and Texas, Cal will participate in the 2019 2K Empire Classic at Madison Square Garden next season from Nov. 21 to 22. The team that Cal will play in the opening round has yet to be released.
