Born out of Indigenous American and African textiles, the Gee’s Bend quilts have come to represent the fortitude of African American culture.

It’s easy to dismiss your own vote or voice as being a drop in the bucket, but if everyone thinks the same way and withholds their drop, then the bucket will be dangerously empty. 

More can be done to empower young people to vote, but it need not consist of crudely optimistic visions for the future.

What makes this legislative assault on abortion rights even more terrifying is that it is not just abortion rights that are under attack.

Regardless of whether you celebrated the result of the recent recall election, there is one clear takeaway: California's recall process must be reformed.

The arrival of President Joe Biden’s administration is not a magical solution to all our problems, but it is the first step. Now, we all have to keep the government accountable for the effectiveness of its policy decisions.

The Biden administration must make its commitment to democracy clear and exemplify the characteristics a healthy democracy relies on in its own actions.

At the end of the day, there’s one certain way to ensure that your vote won’t count, and that’s by not submitting your ballot. So, I’ll see you at the polls Nov. 3, and we’ll strengthen our democracy together.
