The Metropolitan Transportation Commission released the draft for its 2023 Public Participation Plan and is inviting the public to share feedback during a comment period of several weeks.

The city of Berkeley agreed to enter into a franchise agreement with FlixBus, a long-distance bus company started in Germany, to allow buses to stop at the campus’s western edge at Tuesday’s regular City Council meeting. Previously, the closest stops were located in West Oakland and Richmond.

The ASUC Senate met for its weekly meeting Wednesday night to hear updates on campus transportation funding and new campus policies on smoking, as well as to finalize appointments for next year’s internal positions.

With electric scooter ride-sharing on the rise and a Berkeley pilot program on its way to the city and the UC Berkeley campus, a recent study conducted by the Haas School of Business revealed that nearly half the market may prefer owning to renting electric scooters.

Bear Transit’s daytime central campus line, or C-Line, will close, and other routes will face detours because of construction on Wickson Bridge, which will begin Feb. 13 and continue “until further notice.”

Last week, UC Berkeley was promoted to gold status as a Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists from its previous status of silver.
