COVID-19 vaccine

A doctor and former UCLA employee filed a class action lawsuit against the Regents of the University of California on Oct. 5 over his termination for refusing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. 

During its Wednesday meeting, the district approved amendments to its current policies for both students and teachers, changing the definition of “fully-vaccinated” to include the COVID-19 booster shot for those deemed eligible by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

Though nothing can compare to the glorious wonders that 2020 brought the world, 2021 was a keen competitor in the contest for which year in the '20s roared the loudest.

The impetus should fall on the multibillion-dollar companies — not host cities — to clean up toxic waste left behind. CEPA and DTSC must hold AstraZeneca accountable and fulfill their commitment to keeping California safe and clean.

With significantly lower vaccine uptake among long-term care facility employees, the COVID-19 Vaccination Uptake Behavioral Science Task Force report was released Feb. 23 to provide recommendations to increase vaccination rates.

Targeting Black and Latinx communities with messaging related to vaccine safety does nothing to address the underlying mistrust or harm.

It feels a bit like the COVID-19 pandemic has split the UC Berkeley student population into two groups: those living on campus and those living at home.

Dispersing vaccines through the UC system immediately, including campus communities and alumni networks, would ensure underserved areas receive faster care.
