Class of 2020

The lasts just keep coming: last class, last time seeing a friend, last staff meeting, last article, last house dinner, last month and last column. 

Although COVID-19 has complicated graduates’ ability to obtain jobs, it expanded the creative bounds of graduated seniors.

While devastating in many ways, reflecting on my senior year has made me realize that it is still my favorite year of college. In honor of our last week of classes, we at the Clog have compiled five reasons why senior year is the best, even if you only get to enjoy 75% of it.

Next year will feature one of the best classes in Cal women’s basketball history, as six new Bears combine to form the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation.

The fight against gender disparity can be intimidating, but through little changes, we can fix the broken rung even as new college graduates.

It takes a team effort, led by a team’s senior captain, to make a Cinderella-esque run to the NCAA Final Four. It’s going to take a team effort, led by you, to alleviate this global pandemic.

To say we’re disappointed would be an understatement, and to say we aren’t going to be a little dramatic about it would be naive. But maybe, looking back, an ending like this one seems to fit just right in the complicated puzzle of our college experiences.

Here is a breakdown of a few things that happened to the class of 2020. We hope that going through the list will spark a few good memories, but we know it may bring back some repressed ones — sorry about that.
