The Berkeley Fire Department, city of Oakland, East Bay Regional Parks District and UC Berkeley will work together to make use of a $12.75 million investment in fire safety, unveiled Thursday by Mayor Jesse Arreguín and Interim Berkeley Fire Chief Abraham Roman.

In a project spearheaded by UC Berkeley, trees lining Claremont Avenue have been removed in an effort to maintain fire evacuation routes for city residents. 

At approximately 2:06 p.m. Wednesday, missing person Frank Schooley, 81, was located, according to a Berkeley Police Department alert.
