The Building Name Review Committee spent almost three years circulating surveys, inviting public comment and reading reports from an internal Berkeley Law committee.

As of early Thursday morning, the campus has removed Boalt Hall’s name and the building’s name pin lettering.

At a time when the removal of controversial monuments from public places has made national headlines, UC Berkeley finds itself revisiting concerns surrounding the names of several contentious buildings on campus.

Oscar’s, a hamburger restaurant at the intersection of Shattuck Avenue and Hearst Avenue that has been in Berkeley for 65 years, is closing and will be replaced by Sweetgreen, a fast food chain restaurant from the East Coast.
