BART saw its highest arrest totals since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic this spring after doubling its police presence on trains in March, according to a BART press release.

At the event in Barrows Hall, Brooks discussed her background in grassroots organizing as well as the rising movements that are challenging the Trump administration. Her talk was followed by a question and answer session with the group of students in attendance.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 union's strike was organized after members were forced to sign a contract with terms the union had rejected. Approximately 200 to 300 people gathered at Latham Square in Downtown Oakland about 3:30 p.m. Sunday to protest the white supremacist demonstration that occurred in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Friday and Saturday morning.
