With a decade under its belt, Outside Lands 2018 knew what it was doing — repeating multiple artists from its first lineup while also finally managing to have female headliners.

Caleborate’s quickly gone from being a virtually unknown YouTube rapper to holding his own early-evening spot in Outside Lands’ Friday lineup.

The beats of Brazilian street drummers filled the air, providing a rhythm for the hundreds of feet marching along some of Berkeley’s most iconic streets. While not necessarily crowded, the blocked-off areas were populated by laughing children playing cornhole or blowing bubbles, local election campaigners hoping to gain votes and people of all ages painting animal figurines.

Outside Lands is feverishly exalted. So, here it is — one jaded concert critic’s take on the lineup for San Francisco’s 11th Outside Lands.

Kickback-like in atmosphere, Berkeley’s Cornerstone Craft Beer and Live Music was packed with youths ranging in age from teens to mid-20s Thursday night.

Berkeley-based rapper Caleborate is still optimistic — he’s about to kick off his second tour in Berkeley for "Real Person."
