U.S. presidential candidate Marianne Williamson spoke on campus Wednesday, discussing various topics including her proposed economic bill of rights and the Israel-Hamas war.

The reluctance of people to listen to dissenting opinions often reinforces their false understandings. However, disagreement can be instructive and transformational. Research from UC Berkeley professors and others shed light on why we disagree and how it can refine and strengthen one’s beliefs. 

The city of Berkeley’s Agenda and Rules Committee discussed a project organized by former Youth Commission Chair Samuel Kaplan-Pettus and Councilmember Kate Harrison to appoint two youth members to the city’s Environment and Climate Commission, or ECC, on Tuesday. 

Allegations of misconduct against Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, were brought to Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguín and City Council Thursday, prompting an external investigation.

UC Berkeley alumnus and incumbent Rigel Robinson has won the race for Berkeley City Council District 7 with 56 votes as of 7:40 a.m. Wednesday with 100% of the precincts accounted for. 

Measure L needs the support of two-thirds of voters in the November general election to pass. It is time to invest in Berkeley. We must not delay.
