If anything, I’d love to see my reflection, just up on the ceiling like in those Vegas love motels — it might even turn me on.

I can’t help but feel that a part of me will always think skinnier is “better” because of the environment I grew up in. However, by appreciating the American take on body image, I’ve learned to believe that all bodies are beautiful and we should never dictate our worth based on the number on a scale.

What I didn’t expect to need a college education to learn, however, is that wheat is not a vegetable and jelly is not really a fruit. I guess peanut butter is still protein, so maybe I was on to something there.

When we touch fingers, I watch my reflection consumed by you a little more each day. You own my happiness, dictate my melancholy, rewarding me when I shave myself away.
