The vastness of California melted away as we closed in on the border. When we reached the border fence, I was struck by an eerie feeling.

Sitting on the grass in front of the library, fragments of Miller’s imagining of Big Sur are refracted through Perfume Genius’ ethereal vocals and sumptuous instrumentation, coalescing into a kaleidoscopic post-quarantine live experience. 

As much as I love to embrace the “New Girl” parallels, I have also learned to accept that the life I lead is one that is entirely my own. And there’s a certain beauty in that.
