Hate only becomes more prevalent when people do not identify it as hate. It is time to show Jewish students respect by living with the intention of never forgetting such hate exists.

Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorates a key moment of Jewish resistance against the Nazis during the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. 

Passover — or pesach in Hebrew — celebrates the Israelites’ exodus from slavery in ancient Egypt to their new homeland in Israel. The Jewish holiday began the evening of April 5 and concluded April 13, a day which marked the end of strict kosher for many practicing Jews.

Jewish students at UC Berkeley continue to feel targeted and look to student government for support in light of rising antisemitic rhetoric on a national level. 

Berkeley Law has recently ramped up security in the wake of “Berkeley Bans Jews” billboard trucks that have driven by campus to protest the decision of nine student groups — of which there are more than 100 — to ban Zionist speakers.

Before coming to Berkeley , I had kissed more girls than guys, and if we’re being honest, that ratio hasn’t changed much since. Kissing your friends is normal, or so 17-year-old me thought. Kisses are silly and meaningless, which has allowed my closeted self to kiss basically every single girl I’m close to, from dorm friends to sorority sisters. 

Jordan Ullman is running for the ASUC Senate with the Student Action party on platforms of interfaith relations, basic needs and pre-graduate resources.

Berkeley Hillel, along with the UC Berkeley Center for Jewish Studies and the Chancellor’s Committee on Jewish Student Life and Campus Climate, published an educational video March 18 to educate viewers about anti-Semitism and how to address it.

The Antisemitism Education Initiative, a pilot program at UC Berkeley, received a $25,000 grant from the national nonprofit Academic Engagement Network, or AEN, on Sept. 10.
