Awareness among campus students about the sit-in in the Anthropology Library is growing as the movement gains traction.

ASUC senators discussed Senate Resolution 22/23-057, moving beyond partisan politics in the ASUC during the weekly senate meeting Wednesday.

The results fpr the 2023 ASUC Senate elections were announced at 6 p.m. Friday during a tabulation ceremony held in Dwinelle Hall. With remarkable turnout, 46 candidates competed for the 20 available senate seats, posing a significant challenge to all contenders. Of these, an overwhelming 32 ran as independents, while 10 ran with ElevateCal and four ran with the Progressives at Cal party.

UC Berkeley Young Democratic Socialists of America, or Cal YDSA, hosted a town hall in the George and Mary Foster Anthropology Library on Wednesday to get perspectives from students in the anthropology, physics and math departments on the upcoming library closures.

The ASUC meeting on Wednesday marked a win for students and community members fighting to preserve the George and Mary Foster Anthropology Library. ASUC Senators moved to co-sponsor Senate Resolution 22/23-038 to indefinitely postpone the impending closure of the library.
