Cal Women’s Golf will participate in their third event of the year on Thursday, matching up with Stanford. This match will see the women join forces with the men in a combined effort to try and best Stanford for a third time in program history.

At the invitational this weekend, the Bears competed at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course. Cal showed a lot of promise but eventually finished eighth out of 16 teams that competed.

After a rain delay and a mediocre performance in the first round, Cal finished fifth after a monumental comeback against all odds in the final round of the tournament.

While bringing along their entire roster to Sacramento, the Cal women’s golf team was able to gain valuable tournament experience in less than favorable conditions.

Teeing off early Monday morning, the blue and gold wasted no time making their presence felt. The Bears played a round that the program hadn't seen in 14 years: a 9-under team round.

With a familiar course in front of them and the opportunity to show the country that they could hang with the big shots, the Bears could not answer the call.

If one team could deliver a shock performance this week, it’s Cal — five of its 11 players will be making their debuts for the blue and gold this season.
